Living with diabetes is

  • seldom easy
  • often frustrating
  • always serious.

We'd like to help. This section includes some resources we think you'll find useful. Let us know if you agree.

Information and More
Having complete and reliable information about your diabetes is important, but it's not enough. Information by itself doesn't change much. Think about it. It's not what you know about diabetes that makes a difference. It's what you DO. Our "Myth Book and Video Set" (Word Document or PDF) is a great place to start. It will help you identify common myths about diabetes care that may be standing in your way. Get a clear look at diabetes as it is today - and learn new skills to help you live with it more successfully. Special versions of the Myth Book are available for Spanish-speaking people and for Native American/Aboriginal people.

Get Your Questions Answered
The Frequently Asked Questions section contains our answers to some of the most common questions people ask about food, medicine, emotions and much more. We hope you find the answers are helpful.

Find A Helpful Class or Group
Also search out classes and groups in your own area that help you figure out how to DO things. Things like:

  • count carbohydrates
  • understand and use your blood sugar results
  • adjust your mealtime insulin (if you take it)
  • Work with your provider to get good results

To live a healthy and happy life with diabetes, you need to develop these and other skills. Some diabetes classes focus only on information. Interesting, but no one's blood sugar ever got better because they knew where their pancreas was. Before signing up for a class, ask what you'll be able to DO as result of attending.
